Bridges & Dentures In Danville

A bridge may replace missing teeth, help maintain the shape of your face, and alleviate stress on your bite. A bridge replaces missing teeth with artificial teeth, looks great, and bridges the gap where one or more teeth may have been. Your bridge can be made from gold, alloys, porcelain, or a combination of these materials and is bonded onto surrounding teeth for support. There are two basic types of bridges. A fixed bridge that remains in your mouth at all times and is supported by your natural teeth. Removable bridges (partials and complete dentures) are removed from the mouth several times a day for cleaning and rest on the gum where the missing teeth are being replaced.

What is a denture?

Dentures are artificial sets of teeth on an acrylic base designed to rest over the gums and jawbone. These bases are held in the mouth primarily by suction. Complete dentures are used when all of your teeth are missing (we call this edentulous); a partial denture is used when you have natural teeth remaining.

What is a dental bridge?

A dental bridge is a fixed dental prosthesis with multiple crowns joined together to span empty spaces where teeth are missing in your mouth. Just as a bridge spans the space between two sides of a bayou or river, a dental bridge spans a missing space between teeth. A bridge is designed to provide structural support and distribute chewing forces evenly throughout the dentition. They are also designed to look and feel like your natural teeth.
